Hi, I’m Vivian Owusu. DipHE RGN, BSc(Hons)( Specialist Community Public Health Nurse). Founder of V O Private Health
I am a registered nurse and a SPCHN(health visiting). I have over 10 years of health visiting experience working in the NHS and independently. I worked in the British Army for over 12 years as a nurse and then, on leaving the service, trained as a health visitor.
My role as a health visitor is to support families during antenatal periods and from birth to five years of age. Also support to promote health, prevent illnesses, and offer free, tailored advice on child development, parenting, nutrition, mental health, and safety. Key Roles and Responsibilities:
* Mandatory Development Reviews:
* I conduct mandated checks, including 9-12 months developmental reviews, 2-2.5 year reviews, assessing growth, speech, and behavioural milestones.
* Child Development & Support:
* Monitoring physical, emotional, and social growth, guiding sleep, breastfeeding, weaning, and toilet training.
* Parental Support:
* I support new parents with the transition to parenthood, providing and promoting maternal and infant mental health.
* Proactive Health Promotion:
* I provide advice on immunisations, nutrition, accident prevention, and home safety.
* Safeguarding and Early Intervention:
* I identify vulnerable children at risk of harm or developmental issues early on and offer advice and support.
I do provide weekend and bank holiday service if needed, as I understand most parents work during the week and need flexibility.
